Wyken is an old estate which is recorded in the Domesday Book, the Hall itself dates from 1570. It is painted old 'Suffolk Pink' and is a very beautiful building surrounded by a mixture of gardens which are a pleasure to stroll around. Most of the gardens are screened from each other by walls or hedges, you don't see many of the other visitors and can enjoy the gardens as if they were your own.

There are all sorts of gardens here - a vegetable garden, an orchard, a nuttery, a dell, a pond thats alive with dragon flies, a knot garden, a herb garden and a newly planted beech maze.

This is the Cottage Garden created after giving a face lift to the farm office.

The Quincunx is five interlocking circles, the planting is box hedging and topiary planted up with salvias, I think.

The South Garden and border, on the other side of the wall is the Rose Garden.

This sheltered spot in the South Garden hides several tree ferns.

These garden rooms close to the house were designed by Arabella Lennox-Boyd, they include quick glimpses into the Rose Garden.

One of the entrances to the Rose Garden, this one is from the South Garden.

These are various views of the Rose Garden, one looking towards the house, another towards the pond and another to a very welcoming seat in the shade, it was one of the warmest days in August.

The Red Hot Border and the East Garden make a good contrast both with similar plants just different colours, apparently the East Garden is also known as the croquet lawn.

At the far end of the garden past the Dell and through the Nuttery is the Gazebo, surrounded by lilies and herbaceous borders.
